Women's fashion during the Roaring Twenties
The roaring twenties customs was influenced heavily by the end of the war. The younger generations had loosened ties with the traditional customs, and with the newfound freedom, fashion during the nineteen twenties changed dramatically.
The clothing had taken advantage of the interesting use of colour, mimicking art and has been produced with different materials. The sudden vibrancy of the colours represented the relief and happiness of the general population, when the war finally ended.
Corsets and crinolinewere no longer in fashion, as they cause inconvenience to the younger generations of women who now have the ability to danceand go to work. This change had allowed the fashion designers to invent more stylish apparel. The dresses in particularly, have become shorter, to the disgrace of the elder people of the population. No longer restricted, the designers have utilised a variety of colours and patterns to create a fashionable outfit.
The mass production of goods has made fashionable clothes affordable for the working class. As well as revolutionary cloche hat, the ‘bob’ haircut was in the trend. The media supported this new look, with magazines sporting ways to have the ‘bob’ haircut. Silk stockings also took a turn, adjusting the new lively colours, stockings is more prominent and visible.
The roaring twenties is the era when the people, both female and male, started wearing more comfortable clothing.

The difference beteen the dresses of the Victorian Era and the roaring twenties is obvious, howeverthe hemline of the dresses was not always consistently short during the 1920s. The hemline was at the middle of the calf, then in 1922, it dropped surprisely. However in 1925, it scandalously rose up to the knee, above the ground by approximately 45 cm.
The daylight dresses of the 1920s has no definite shape. As well as the sleeves, the dresses hung loosely.

Evening Wear
The evening gowns permitted the people of the era to dress up fancifully, especially for the nightclubs. Althought the evening gowns resemble the daylight wear, they defer by the making of the clothings. The evening wear, is a way of showing off their wealth, and thus materials ranged from silk, beads and velvet. A famous example is the robe de style by Jeanne Lanvin, which was a beautiful dress consisted of velvet and silk. Many fashion designers became famous through their designs of vibrant lively evening gowns.
